Kuki Inpi Manipur rejects allegations against the community, calls for restraint amid tensions

Imphal, April 23: The Kuki Inpi Manipur has strongly rejected allegations leveled against the Kuki community amid the ongoing tensions in the state, asserting that such claims are baseless and only serve to deepen divisions among communities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the organization expressed concern over what it described as “misleading narratives” being circulated in certain sections, which it said unfairly target the Kuki population. The body emphasized that the community has consistently sought peace and coexistence, and condemned any attempt to portray it otherwise.

Kuki Inpi Manipur urged all communities to exercise restraint and avoid actions or rhetoric that could further inflame the already fragile situation. It stressed the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation in restoring normalcy in the region.

The organization also appealed to the authorities to ensure impartial investigation into recent incidents and take strict action against those responsible for spreading misinformation or inciting violence.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace, the group called upon civil society organizations, community leaders, and the general public to work collectively toward maintaining harmony and stability in Manipur.

The statement comes at a time when tensions remain high in several parts of the state, with security forces continuing to monitor the situation closely.
