Excitement Builds in Arunachal Pradesh Ahead of Pangsau Pass Festival

The much-anticipated Pangsau Pass International Festival in Arunachal Pradesh is set to be held from January 20 to 22 at the historic Pangsau Pass, one of Asia’s most renowned mountain passes along the Indo-Myanmar border.

Spanning three days, the festival aims to celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage while fostering cross-border friendship, tourism, and people-to-people connections. Visitors can look forward to a vibrant lineup of traditional dances, music, and indigenous art forms from various communities, which are expected to be the highlights of the event.

“From the historic Pangsau Pass—where civilizations met, cultures flowed, and borders blurred—comes a celebration of shared heritage, music, and traditions. The Pangsau Pass International Festival is more than an event; it is a bridge between histories and hearts,” said Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a post on X.

This year, the festival will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, paying tribute to the sacrifices made during the war and to those who contributed to the construction of the historic Stilwell Road. The observance seeks to honour this significant chapter in history while reaffirming a commitment to peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding among nations.

Over time, the Pangsau Pass International Festival has grown into a prominent symbol of historical remembrance and international goodwill, drawing participants and visitors from across India and abroad. The event is expected to strengthen cultural ties, boost tourism, and highlight the strategic and historical significance of Pangsau Pass.
