The Village Volunteer Ukhrul Gamkai has issued a press release expressing concern over a tragic incident near Litan Sareikhong Village, where two lives were reportedly lost around 2:30 PM.
In the statement, the group reaffirmed its commitment to protecting innocent civilians, emphasizing that it does not engage in violence against non-combatants regardless of community. The volunteers highlighted their role in assisting civilians during a recent incident at Mongkot Chepu on April 17, where Tangkhul residents were reportedly helped and allowed to leave safely.
The organization strongly rejected allegations linking it to the Litan Sareikhong incident, stating that it had no presence at the location. It described such claims as baseless and an attempt to misrepresent and malign the group without evidence or logical basis.
Calling for accountability and fairness, the Village Volunteers urged media outlets and the public to rely on verified facts and responsible reporting. The statement also warned that any defamatory or unfounded accusations could lead to legal action.
The release was issued by the Media Cell of the organization and concluded with a call for truth-based conclusions amid rising tensions in the region.
