The United Kuki National Army (UKNA) firmly denies any involvement in the recent attack on civilians in Tronglaobi, Bishnupur, Manipur. The allegations are completely unfounded and appear to be an intentional attempt to misdirect blame in an already tense situation.
UKNA reiterates that its primary objective is to pursue a just and honorable political solution within the framework of the Constitution of India. The organization does not support or participate in violence against innocent civilians, especially children, under any circumstances.
Furthermore, UKNA states that it has consistently worked to safeguard buffer zones to prevent communal conflict and maintain peace. It emphasizes that despite serious provocation—where mobs allegedly breached buffer zones, ignored central security forces, and advanced toward the CRPF camp at P. Gelmol Kuki Village—the group exercised restraint. This restraint, it argues, demonstrates that Kukis were not involved in the incident.
The organization also expresses appreciation for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for its professionalism and calm handling of a highly volatile situation, which helped prevent potential large-scale violence.
Additionally, UKNA strongly rejects media reports claiming that three of its members were arrested in connection with the incident. It labels these claims as false and baseless, urging media outlets and authorities to act responsibly and avoid spreading unverified information. Such reporting, it warns, only increases mistrust and worsens an already fragile environment.
