Dibrugarh Welcomes Amit Shah as He Unveils Major Development and Cultural Works Today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Dibrugarh late on January 29 for a two-day visit focused on infrastructure, sports and cultural initiatives in Upper Assam. He was received by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

On January 30, Shah will lay the foundation stone for the second Assam Assembly complex in Dibrugarh, a ₹284-crore project to be completed in 30 months. He will also inaugurate the first phase of a ₹238-crore multi-disciplinary sports complex and lay the foundation for its second phase, involving an additional ₹209 crore.

Shah will launch the Institute of Wildlife Health and Research at Dinjan and virtually inaugurate wetland restoration projects across Assam. All Dibrugarh events will be held at Khanikar Parade Ground, where he will address a public rally.

He will later attend the Takam Mising Porin Kebang Youth Festival in Dhemaji, visit the BJP’s Assam headquarters in Guwahati, and then depart for West Bengal. Senior BJP leaders, including Sarbananda Sonowal, are accompanying him. This is Shah’s second visit to Assam since December, ahead of the state Assembly elections expected in March–April.
