Kangpokpi, April 21, 2026: The district administration in Kangpokpi has imposed prohibitory orders across the Kangpokpi Sub-Division following reports of a serious security threat in the region.
According to an official order issued by District Magistrate Mahesh Chaudhari, the decision was taken based on inputs from police authorities highlighting potential risks to lives and property in areas including S. Changoubung, T. Khullen villages, and nearby locations, particularly along the NH-02 highway stretch.
Invoking Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, the administration has prohibited the movement of individuals outside their residences with immediate effect from 6:00 PM on April 21, 2026, until further orders. The directive also restricts the assembly of five or more persons and bans carrying of weapons, including sticks, stones, firearms, and other potentially dangerous materials.
The order has been issued ex-parte as an urgent preventive measure to maintain public order and prevent any breach of peace. However, exemptions have been granted to courts and tribunals under the jurisdiction of the High Court of Manipur, government agencies involved in law enforcement, and essential and emergency services.
The restrictions apply to the entire area under the revenue jurisdiction of Kangpokpi Sub-Division. Authorities have urged residents to strictly comply with the order to ensure safety and stability in the district.
Copies of the order have been circulated to relevant officials, including police authorities in Kangpokpi and Senapati districts, for immediate implementation and wide publicity.
