Naga Students’ Federation condemns alleged attack on civilians in Ukhrul, demands justice

Ukhrul, Manipur | April 2026 :
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has strongly condemned an alleged attack on civilians in Ukhrul district of Manipur, expressing deep concern over the safety and security of innocent residents in the region.

In a statement issued on Monday, the federation described the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” alleging that unarmed civilians were targeted in the attack. The NSF emphasized that such acts of violence undermine peace and stability in the hill districts and create an atmosphere of fear among local communities.

The student body has called upon the state government and security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident. It demanded that those responsible be identified and brought to justice at the earliest, stressing that accountability is essential to prevent further escalation of tensions.

The NSF also urged authorities to ensure adequate protection for civilians, particularly in vulnerable and conflict-prone areas. It appealed for restraint from all sides and encouraged dialogue as a means to resolve ongoing issues in the region.

Reiterating its commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of the Naga people, the federation warned that continued negligence or failure to act decisively could lead to further unrest.

The situation in Ukhrul remains tense, with security forces reportedly maintaining a heightened presence in the area to prevent any escalation.
