New Delhi: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Delhi & NCR has strongly condemned the killing of three church leaders in what it described as a “barbaric ambush” carried out against members of the Thadou Baptist Association returning from a church gathering in Manipur.
In a press statement issued today, the organisation expressed deep shock and grief over the attack, which reportedly took place while the church leaders were returning to Kangpokpi after attending the First UBC General Assembly at Chiengkonpang in Churachandpur district.
The statement identified the deceased as Rev. V. Sitlhou, Rev. Paogoulen, and Rev. Kaigoulen. Several others were also said to have sustained serious injuries in the attack allegedly carried out by unidentified armed militants.
Calling the incident a “senseless act of violence,” KSO Delhi & NCR stated that the attack on unarmed religious leaders was not only inhuman but also an assault on peace, humanity, and the sanctity of religious service.
The organisation said such acts of terror and bloodshed have no place in a civilized society and only deepen fear, pain, and division among communities. It further termed the targeting of church leaders, who had dedicated their lives to serving humanity, as “utterly deplorable and unacceptable.”
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the Thadou Baptist Association, and all those affected by the tragedy, the student body conveyed condolences and prayers for the departed souls. It also prayed for strength, comfort, and healing for the injured and grieving families.
KSO Delhi & NCR urged the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other concerned authorities to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure that such attacks are not repeated in the future.
