Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh strongly condemned the bomb attack that took place early today at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Moirang, Bishnupur district. The attack, allegedly carried out by suspected armed militants, claimed the lives of two young children—a five-year-old boy and a six-month-old infant—while leaving their mother injured.
Describing the incident as “cowardly” and “heinous,” the Chief Minister assured that the government will take swift and decisive action to identify and apprehend those responsible. He emphasized that justice would be delivered at the earliest.
The Chief Minister stated that such acts of violence appear to be attempts to disrupt the ongoing efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state. He noted that whenever progress is made toward stability, isolated incidents of violence tend to occur, possibly driven by vested interests aiming to derail the peace process.
He further expressed concern that the recent violence may be intended to destabilize the newly formed government, which was established after nearly a year of President’s Rule.
Appealing to the public, the Chief Minister urged people across all communities to stand united against terrorism and avoid participating in activities such as bandhs, blockades, or vandalism, which could worsen the situation.
Extending his condolences, he expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the two children and assured full support to the bereaved family.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited the injured woman at a private hospital in Imphal and directed medical authorities to ensure she receives the best possible care for a speedy recovery.
