The North Eastern Council (NEC) has allocated Rs 4.89 crore for various development projects in Mizoram, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to the state’s infrastructure, livelihood, and cultural growth. This disbursement is part of a broader allocation of over Rs 76.78 crore made across all Northeastern states and regional agencies during December of the previous year.
According to an NEC statement released on Friday, the funds for Mizoram will support multiple initiatives aimed at strengthening local capacity, preserving cultural heritage, and improving governance. Key projects include the establishment of a fish farmer training center at Lengpui, the creation of a Mizo cultural heritage center at Kawlri in Serchhip district to safeguard the state’s historical and natural legacy, and efforts to boost state revenue through IT-based monitoring of mineral exploitation and resource mapping.
In addition to state-specific funding, the NEC allocated Rs 26.47 crore to various regional and other agencies in the Northeast. This funding will support initiatives carried out by universities, research institutions, specialized corporations, and cultural organizations across the region.
The NEC emphasized that this latest funding reaffirms its dedication to advancing developmental projects throughout the Northeast, with an emphasis on infrastructure, livelihoods, cultural preservation, research, and innovation. The release further highlights the council’s pivotal role in promoting balanced and inclusive growth in the region.
