Manipur Congress urges PM Modi, Amit Shah to prioritise peace restoration

Imphal, April 29: Senior leaders of the Indian National Congress in Manipur have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take immediate and focused steps to restore peace in the state.

The appeal was made by key office bearers of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, who expressed serious concern over the ongoing ethnic unrest and its impact on civilians. They highlighted that continued violence has resulted in loss of lives, displacement, and disruption of normal life across affected regions.

The Congress office bearers stressed the need for stronger intervention by the central government, including enhanced security deployment, facilitation of dialogue between communities, and timely humanitarian support for those affected by the conflict.

They also criticised what they described as inadequate response and delayed action, stating that the situation requires constant monitoring at the highest level. The leaders called on both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to engage directly with stakeholders and ensure coordinated efforts to bring lasting peace.

In addition, the office bearers demanded comprehensive rehabilitation measures for displaced families and restoration of essential services such as healthcare, education, and transport in violence-affected areas.

Reaffirming their commitment to unity and peace, the Congress leaders said that collaboration between the Centre, state authorities, and community representatives is crucial for restoring stability in Manipur.
