Kangpokpi: The Kuki National Front (KNF) has strongly denied allegations linking the organisation to the recent attack at Loibol Khollen village in Kangpokpi district, where three Kuki-Zo civilians were reportedly killed and several houses were burnt down on June 5.
In a press communiqué issued on Friday, the KNF termed the allegations against the organisation as “baseless” and part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public and distorting facts surrounding the incident. The outfit also expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families affected by the violence.
The statement asserted that the organisation had “absolutely no involvement” in the recent attacks on villages and civilians. It maintained that attempts to portray the KNF as being involved in confrontations against its own people or armed groups were “false and malicious” and intended to damage the image of the organisation.
The KNF further criticised what it described as the continued spread of unverified accusations without evidence or verification. According to the organisation, such claims reflected a disregard for truth and responsibility and were insulting not only to the public but also to the Government of Manipur and security agencies.
Condemning the alleged misuse of tragic incidents for political propaganda or narrow interests, the KNF said exploiting incidents involving loss of life, injuries and destruction of property for political gain was irresponsible and harmful to ongoing efforts for justice and accountability.
The organisation reiterated that, as a signatory to the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, its cadres remain confined to designated camps and strictly adhere to the ground rules laid down under the agreement. It alleged that certain individuals and groups had been consistently attempting to malign the image of the organisation through the circulation of unverified information.
The KNF also appealed to civil society organisations, political leaders and media platforms to refrain from making speculative statements or disseminating unsubstantiated claims. It stressed that public discourse on matters concerning security and human lives should be guided by facts, evidence and integrity rather than rumours or political expediency.
The statement additionally warned that the deliberate spread of misinformation posed a serious threat to peace, stability and public confidence in the region.
Reaffirming its stand against violence targeting innocent civilians, the KNF said it would never support actions that undermine fundamental human rights. The organisation stated that it remained committed to peace, justice and communal harmony.
At the same time, the KNF alleged that repeated attacks on Kuki-Zo villages, including killings and incidents of arson, must be immediately stopped and called for accountability against those responsible for the violence and unrest in the region.
