Churachandpur, May 10:
Manipur Police arrested a man in Churachandpur district after recovering more than one kilogram of suspected brown sugar during a special operation carried out by security personnel.
According to police sources, the accused was intercepted during a routine checking and frisking operation conducted in the district. During the search, security personnel reportedly recovered packets containing suspected brown sugar weighing over 1 kg from his possession.
The seized contraband has been taken into police custody for further investigation and legal procedures. Authorities stated that the estimated value of the drugs in the illegal market is believed to be substantial.
Police officials said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to determine possible links to drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
The arrest is part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign launched by Manipur Police to curb the illegal drug trade and maintain law and order across the state.
