Imphal, May 5, 2026 — The Directorate of Education (Schools), Government of Manipur, has put forward a proposal to revise the duration of the Summer Vacation for the upcoming academic session 2026–27, aiming to recover lost instructional time in schools.
The move comes in response to repeated disruptions in the academic calendar caused by prevailing law and order situations in the state. These interruptions have affected regular classroom teaching and hindered students’ academic progress.
To address the gap in learning hours and ensure timely completion of the syllabus, the Directorate has suggested reducing the length of the Summer Vacation. As per the earlier schedule, schools were to remain closed from June 8 to June 27, 2026. However, the revised proposal recommends that begin from June 15 and continue until June 27, 2026.
Officials believe that this adjustment will provide additional teaching days, helping educators cover the prescribed curriculum more effectively without compromising academic standards.
The proposal has been forwarded to the concerned authorities for approval. If accepted, the revised schedule will be implemented across schools in the state.
This initiative highlights the government’s focus on maintaining continuity in education and minimizing the long-term impact of unforeseen disruptions on students’ learning.
