NSCN/GPRN Denies Ordering Hongbei Shootout, Orders Probe into Killing of Four Cadres

Dimapur: The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), through its Ministry of Information and Publicity, has expressed shock and grief over the killing of four soldiers in a shootout at Hongbei village on March 28.

In a press statement issued by Brigadier Hekishe Achumi, MSM, Director of the Publicity and Information Bureau (PIB), General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Naga Army, the group clarified that no directive had been issued to launch any offensive or strike against any group or faction at this critical juncture. The statement sought to distance the GHQ from the incident, suggesting that the operation was not authorized by its leadership.

Describing the incident as “tragic” and “horrific,” the GPRN informed that an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the shootout. It assured that those found responsible for what it termed a “botched up operation” would face punishment in accordance with the Naga Army Rules and Regulations (NARR).

The statement also appealed to the public to remain calm and exercise prudence, urging people not to be influenced by unverified information circulating on social media.
