PM Modi to Pay Visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan on Guru Ravidas Jayanti

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar on 1 February (Sunday) to mark the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, according to Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. The Prime Minister will attend the Budget session of Parliament in the morning before traveling to Jalandhar, where he is expected to arrive at the dera in the afternoon.

The visit will coincide with the annual celebrations of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, a festival commemorating the birth anniversary of the revered 15th-century saint and social reformer, Guru Ravidas. In recent years, PM Modi has often traveled to Seer Govardhan, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas in Varanasi, which also falls within his parliamentary constituency.

Dera Sachkhand Ballan, located in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, is one of the most important spiritual centers for the Ravidassia community. The dera attracts devotees from across India who come to pay homage to Guru Ravidas and participate in religious festivities.

The head of the Dera, Sant Niranjan Dass, has recently been awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors. Sant Niranjan Dass is responsible for overseeing religious activities and management at both Dera Sachkhand Ballan and the associated sites in Varanasi, reflecting his influence and leadership within the Ravidassia community.

The Prime Minister’s visit is seen as a significant gesture acknowledging the cultural and spiritual importance of Guru Ravidas and his teachings, as well as the devotion of the Ravidassia community in Punjab and across the country.
