The Department of Posts has undertaken a major upgrade of its banking infrastructure with the activation of 887 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across the country. According to the Ministry of Communications, these newly operational ATMs are designed to provide customers with a convenient way to withdraw cash, check account balances, and perform other basic banking transactions, enhancing the overall accessibility of banking services.
The Ministry highlighted that this initiative holds particular significance for residents of rural and underserved regions, where access to traditional banking facilities is often limited. By expanding the network of ATMs, the Department of Posts aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural financial services, making banking more inclusive and convenient for all citizens.
Further, the Communications Ministry emphasized that the move aligns with the Government’s broader vision of promoting financial inclusion through digital transformation. By bringing essential banking services closer to people’s homes, this step not only simplifies everyday financial transactions but also encourages greater participation in the formal banking system. The ministry noted that the revamped ATM network is part of a wider effort to make banking services more user-friendly, accessible, and reliable, reflecting a continued commitment to leveraging technology for the benefit of all citizens.
