Arms Manufacturing Equipment and Live Ammunition Seized in Tripura; One Person Arrested

Tripura Police arrested a man and recovered tools and materials used for arms manufacturing, along with live cartridges, during a late-night operation on Tuesday, January 13, in the Kartik Chowmuhani area under Amtali Police Station in West Tripura district.

According to Amtali Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Parmita Pandey, the action followed a specific tip-off about the presence of arms-related items in a house in the locality. A police team from Amtali, led by Sub-Inspector Mrinal Paul, promptly reached the site, cordoned off the premises, and conducted a thorough search.

The operation resulted in the seizure of seven cartridge cases, multiple bullet-related items, and tools believed to have been used in arms manufacturing. The arrested individual has been identified as Balbair Singh.

Singh is scheduled to be produced before a court on Thursday, where police will request his remand to facilitate further investigation. The seized materials will be sent for forensic analysis.

SDPO Pandey also noted that a case had been previously registered against Singh in 2024 at Kalamchoura Police Station in Sepahijala district. Police are examining records related to the earlier case as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities continue to probe the source and intended use of the recovered items.
