A team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) attached to Dispur Police Station has successfully recovered a stolen Mahindra Thar (registration number AS01FQ0969) from Manipur following the arrest of three Meitei youth involved in the case.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Akoijam Universe of Imphal East, Achom Winner Meitei of Imphal West, and Thomnojam Samananda of Imphal West.
According to police sources, the vehicle was initially taken from the victim at Ghoramara, Guwahati, under the pretense of a self-drive rental agreement. However, the vehicle subsequently disappeared, prompting the victim to file a complaint.
Acting swiftly, the EGPD team, in coordination with Manipur police, tracked and recovered the stolen vehicle. Legal action has been initiated against the trio under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. Authorities are now probing whether the accused are part of a broader interstate vehicle theft racket operating between Assam and Manipur.
