Lamka: In yet another incident of violence against innocent villagers, three Kuki villagers were reportedly killed and several houses were torched in an early morning attack at Loibol Khullen village. Loibol Kholen is situated within Kangpokpi district and is close to Tupul, a Naga inhabited town.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, Kuki Inpi Manipur alleged that “heavily armed cadres” of NSCN-IM along with its proxy group ZUF(K) carried out the attack at around 4:00 AM at Loibol Khullen in Kangpokpi district.
According to the statement, the attack claimed the lives of three civilians identified as Mr. Letkhongam Haokip, his wife Mrs. Tinmary Haokip, and Mr. Jangminlal Haokip. KIM further stated that seven houses were reduced to ashes during the incident, while several civilian properties sustained extensive damage.
Describing the incident as a “barbaric act of violence against unarmed civilians,” KIM said the deliberate killing of innocent persons and destruction of homes constituted a grave violation of human dignity and fundamental human rights.
The apex Kuki tribal body expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and conveyed solidarity with the affected residents of Loibol Khullen village. It stated that the tragedy had caused immense grief across the Kuki-Zo community.
KIM also called upon the Government of India and security agencies to immediately launch a thorough investigation into the incident, apprehend those responsible, and ensure that justice is delivered without delay. The organisation urged authorities to take urgent measures to protect vulnerable villages and prevent further attacks on civilians.
“The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be held fully accountable,” the statement asserted, while warning that Kuki Inpi Manipur “shall not be held responsible for any consequences arising from this heinous crime against our people.”
