Kangpokpi: Oasis College, Kangpokpi, witnessed the consecration of its Evangelical Union (EU) Committee on September 18, coinciding with the 73rd foundation observance of the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI).
Bro. Don Reising, State Secretary, UESI Manipur performs the act of consecration and exhorts the students to place Christ above all other considerations and make Him the centre of their lives and fellowship.
The newly constituted committee comprises Neichinthem Chongloi (President), Paogougin (Vice President), Tinngaikim Grace Touthang (Secretary), Letngunlun (Assistant Secretary), Lenminsei Gangte (Music Secretary), Neihoikim (Assistant Music Secretary), Lucy Hoineivah (Treasurer), Joseph (Prayer Secretary), Esther Neipilhing Sitlhou (Assistant Prayer Secretary) and Lhingnou Lhouvum (Mission and Outreach Secretary).
Despite the prevailing conflict situation in Manipur, Bro. Don travelled from Imphal to Kangpokpi to participate in the programme, describing his visit as an opportunity to serve as a messenger of Christ.
Emphasising the importance of Christian identity and unity, he encouraged the students to uphold the principle that “Christ shall be number one and ethnicity later,” calling for unity beyond ethnic boundaries.
The Evangelical Union Committee was formed through the initiative of Miss Veineilhing Haokip, Missionary and Staff to UESI, with the objective of fostering Christian fellowship, spiritual growth and Christ-centred activities among students of the college.
The programme was moderated by Sister Pipi Kipgen and attended by Dr. Onkholun Haokip, Board Member, Oasis College; Dr. Haoginlen Chongloi, Academic Dean; and Dr. Hohoi Sitlhou, Principal-in-charge, along with members of Evangelical Union committees from Presidency College, Kanggui Christian College, Don Bosco Maram and other institutions.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Haoginlen Chongloi, Academic Dean, Oasis College, who expressed appreciation to all those who contributed to the formation and consecration of the Evangelical Union Committee.
The newly consecrated committee is expected to play an important role in strengthening Christian fellowship and promoting spiritual and student-centred activities within the Oasis College community.
