KCP men arrested by Manipur Police with arms and ammunition

In a significant breakthrough, Manipur Police apprehended two active members of the banned militant group, Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (KCP-PWG), on March 2.

The arrests took place at Ngariyan Hill near Camphor Sungpham, Andro, in Imphal East district. The individuals, identified as Yumnam Abung Singh (39) and Thangjam Joykumar Singh (52), were reportedly involved in transporting arms and ammunition, as well as extorting money from civilians, private businesses, and government officials.

The operation was part of an ongoing intelligence-driven effort to dismantle militant activities in the region. Police recovered a cache of weapons from the suspects, including pistols with magazines, Chinese-made hand grenades, ammunition rounds, a rifle magazine, and a sling bag.
