The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Saikul Block, has announced a complete shutdown of all educational institutions and business establishments on April 25, 2026, as a mark of mourning for two individuals described as “fallen heroes.”
In an official notification issued from Saikul headquarters in Kangpokpi district, the organisation stated that the shutdown is being observed in honour of two persons from Songphel Mullam who lost their lives in service to the community and the nation.
The directive applies to all schools, colleges, coaching centres, and related institutions, along with business establishments operating within Saikul Block. Academic activities, examinations, and events will remain suspended for the day.
However, the organisation clarified that there will be no restrictions on the movement of private vehicles and essential services, including medical, electricity, and water supply, which will continue to function normally.
The KSO has urged institutions, students, teachers, business owners, and the general public to comply with the directive and join in paying homage to the deceased. It also stated that further updates regarding the resumption of normal activities would be communicated later.
Calling for unity during the period of mourning, the organisation expressed hope that the sacrifice of the two individuals would inspire people to strive for peace and justice in the region.
