UNC Calls One-Day Naga Consultative Meeting in Imphal on April 16


Imphal, April 11: The United Naga Council (UNC) has extended an invitation to the Naga Christian Forum to attend a one-day Naga Consultative Meeting scheduled to be held on April 16, 2026, at Tangkhul Baptist Church Imphal Hall (TBCI), Imphal.

According to an official communication issued by the UNC, the meeting aims to deliberate on the prevailing situation in the Naga homeland amid growing concerns affecting the community. The council emphasized the need for collective discussion and coordination among various Naga civil society groups and institutions.

The consultative meeting will bring together leaders and representatives from a wide range of organizations, including church leaders, journalists’ unions, lawyers’ and doctors’ associations, student bodies from Manipur University (MU), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), and United Naga Council (UNC). Representatives from All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women’s Union (NWU), and Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights-South (NPMHR-S) are also expected to participate.

The UNC stated that the gathering is intended to provide a platform for sharing views, discussing pressing challenges, and collectively charting a way forward to safeguard the interests of the Naga people and their land.

The council has urged all invited stakeholders to extend their full support and actively participate in the meeting. The invitation was issued by UNC General Secretary Vareiyo Shatsang.
