Lamka, April 12, 2026: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has reiterated that restrictions on crossing the buffer zone will remain in force until a political resolution is reached.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the forum stated that, as per its Meeting Resolution No. 3 dated February 12, 2026, individuals from the Meitei community are not permitted to enter Churachandpur. The organization emphasized that the measure is necessary to prevent untoward incidents and maintain peace and stability in the region.
The ITLF urged all concerned to strictly adhere to the buffer zone regulations, warning that any violation could disrupt the fragile situation on the ground.
Meanwhile, the forum also announced that a Grand Program will be held on May 3, 2026, to mark “Separation Day” at the Wall of Remembrance. The event aims to honor those who lost their lives, with the ITLF describing it as a solemn occasion to remember the sacrifices of martyrs and reinforce collective resolve.
Calling for unity and solidarity, the ITLF appealed to citizens and well-wishers to support the observance. The ITLF Women Wing will also organize fundraising activities to ensure the successful conduct of the program.
The statement was jointly issued by Letpu Haokip and Dr. Thangsuolien Sinate, who urged public cooperation in maintaining peace while supporting the commemorative event.
