Drone Flights Banned in Ukhrul Without Prior Permission

Ukhrul, April 11, 2026: The District Magistrate of Ukhrul has issued a strict order prohibiting unauthorized drone operations across the district, citing concerns over public safety, privacy, and protection of sensitive installations.
The order, issued by Asish Das, comes after reports of increasing instances of unregulated drone or UAV usage in the area. Authorities stated that such activities pose potential risks to security and violate existing aviation regulations.

Under the directive, no individual or organization is allowed to operate drones without prior written authorization from the competent authority. Any violation will be treated as a breach of law and may lead to immediate seizure of the drone along with possible criminal proceedings.

The administration emphasized that enforcement agencies have been empowered to take strict action against offenders, including confiscation of equipment. Penalties may also include fines and prosecution under relevant provisions of the law.

The order has been enforced under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, to maintain law and order in the district.

Officials confirmed that the directive comes into effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
