Kangpokpi, Sadar Hills: The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, has announced the withdrawal of its proposed 24-hour total shutdown following assurances from the district administration.
With reference to its earlier press release dated April 9, 2026, regarding a total shutdown in Kangpokpi district over the incident at Shantipur, COTU executives held a detailed discussion with the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi. During the meeting, the DC’s office gave assurances that timely justice will be ensured for victims of the murderous assault.
In light of these developments, COTU has decided to call off the proposed total shutdown, with the expectation that justice will prevail for the victims to the highest degree.
However, the Committee stated that should the district administration fail to uphold its assurances, COTU cannot be held responsible for any untoward incidents that may arise.
