Kangpokpi: The Kuki Christian Church (KCC) has strongly condemned the recent burning of Tangkhul and Kuki houses at Litan, Sarei Khong village in Ukhrul district, and appealed for calm and reconciliation between the two communities.
In an “Appeal for Peace” issued on February 11, 2026, Dr. T. Lunkim, Administrative Secretary of the Kuki Christian Church, termed the incidents of arson and violence as deeply unfortunate and against the non-violent teachings of Jesus Christ. He stated that such acts have no place in Christian values and called for an immediate end to hostilities.
As one of the seniormost Christian leaders in the district, Dr. Lunkim said he was shocked by the uncalled-for incident and humbly appealed to both Kuki and Tangkhul communities to exercise restraint. He urged members of both communities to maintain peace and allow dialogue and understanding to prevail during the tense situation.
The Church also called upon other church leaders and social organizations in the district to actively engage in finding an immediate solution to the present crisis. It further appealed to the concerned government authorities to enforce law and order in vulnerable areas to ensure the safety of residents and restore normalcy at the earliest.
Dr. Lunkim concluded with a prayer for peace and harmony, expressing hope that with collective responsibility and faith, stability can be re-established in the affected region.
