The Assam government has announced changes in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) administration. Mukul Kumar Saikia, IAS (SCS-2011), will step down as Principal Secretary of KAAC on 1 February 2026 and take charge as Secretary in the state’s Information Department.
Dilip Terang, ACS (DR-1999), currently Secretary of KAAC, has been appointed as in-charge Principal Secretary to ensure administrative continuity. The government has not specified the duration of Terang’s interim tenure.
The reshuffle is part of Assam’s broader strategy to rotate senior officials, optimize departmental efficiency, and strengthen leadership across key administrative posts. Local officials have welcomed the smooth transition at KAAC.
