Security forces in Manipur arrested an active cadre of the banned outfit KCP (Apunba) during a targeted operation in Imphal West district on January 30, officials said.
The arrested person has been identified as Khaidem Ajitkumar Singh (25), also known by the aliases Adison and Abai. He is a resident of Heinoupok Maning Leirak under Lamphel Police Station jurisdiction. Singh was apprehended from his locality, and a mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
The arrest comes amid intensified counter-insurgency operations across the state. Security forces have been carrying out search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and vulnerable areas across several districts to curb militant movement and maintain public safety.
As part of heightened security measures, a total of 114 nakas and checkpoints were established across Manipur, covering both hill and valley districts. No detentions were reported during these operations.
Authorities also ensured the smooth movement of essential supplies. As many as 218 vehicles carrying essential commodities were escorted along National Highway-37. Strict security arrangements remain in place in sensitive and vulnerable stretches, with security convoys deployed to ensure uninterrupted and safe transportation.
