The last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be held with full state honours today at 11 a.m. at Vidya Pratishthan Ground in Baramati. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to attend the funeral.
According to Akashvani Correspondent, thousands have gathered at Vidya Pratishthan to pay their respects to the Nationalist Congress Party leader, whose mortal remains were laid there ahead of the ceremony.
Ajit Pawar passed away yesterday morning after the aircraft carrying him and four others crash-landed, resulting in the deaths of all on board. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the accident.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Maharashtra government announced three days of state mourning across the state.
Ajit Pawar was Maharashtra’s longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister, having held the position for six terms under various administrations.
