UKLF Welcomes Th. Muivah’s Historic Homecoming to Somdal After 50 Years

KANGPOKPI: The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has warmly welcomed the historic return of Thuingaleng Muivah, General Secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), to his birthplace Somdal Village in Ukhrul District after a gap of fifty years.

In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity, UKLF described Muivah’s visit as a “pivotal moment” for the tribal communities of the region. The group noted that his return to Somdal, located in the Wung Tangkhul Region of Ukhrul District, comes after decades of absence marked by significant political struggles and tensions involving the valley people and the then-Government of Manipur.

The UKLF acknowledged the years of dedication and challenges faced in realizing this long-awaited homecoming, which they said had earlier resulted in unrest and loss of life. Expressing optimism, the outfit stated that Muivah’s visit would serve as a bridge to foster deeper understanding and strengthen relationships among the tribal communities of the region.

“We sincerely hope that this occasion will lead to lasting peace and unity among the tribal communities, under God’s guidance and blessings,” the statement read.

Concluding the note, the UKLF extended its heartfelt wishes to Th. Muivah for good health and a joyous reunion with his family, describing the event as a milestone in the shared journey of reconciliation and peace among the hill communities of Manipur.
