Imphal, June 23:
In a significant breakthrough, Manipur Police have arrested Longjam Khaba Singh alias Boi (35), a key commander of the Arambai Tenggol (AT) militia, in connection with the brutal murder of Md Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai. The accused, a resident of Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong, was apprehended from Mongsangei Makha Leikai Arubam Leikai, near the Puthiba Laibung Complex in Imphal West.
Police sources confirmed that Khaba Singh played a central role in orchestrating the murder of Abdul Kadir, a crime that has drawn widespread public condemnation and sparked community unrest in recent weeks.
According to official records, a total of ten individuals have been arrested in connection with the case thus far. Among them are seven identified members of the Arambai Tenggol and three civilians. The arrests mark a crucial step in the ongoing investigation and efforts to dismantle violent armed groups operating in the region under the guise of protecting ethnic interests.
The Manipur Police, in a public statement on social media, reiterated their commitment to law and order, warning that no individual or group will be allowed to operate with impunity. Authorities are continuing their investigation to trace all individuals involved in the planning and execution of the crime.
The murder of Abdul Kadir has once again exposed the involvement of Arambai Tenggol in various illegal activities, including the attack of on Kuki villages in the last two years.
