Young Kuki Calls for Unity and Patience Ahead of Key Political Meeting

Imphal: The organization Young Kuki has issued a statement urging calm and unity among the Kuki-Zo community as leaders prepare for a crucial meeting to discuss pressing political matters, including the demand for a separate administration.

According to the statement, the recent press release by KNO-UPF has called upon community leaders—including KZC, SoO representatives, and MLAs—to convene and deliberate on issues affecting the people. The outcome of this meeting is expected to play a significant role in determining the collective political stance of the Kuki-Zo community, particularly regarding participation in the proposed “Popular Government” formation in Manipur.

Young Kuki emphasized that the decisions made during this meeting could have far-reaching implications for the community’s long-standing political aspirations. However, the group also cautioned against the spread of misinformation and internal discord, noting that such actions could weaken the unity of the people.

The statement further acknowledged that those outside the meeting do not hold the mandate to speak on behalf of the community and urged the public to wait for the official outcome. It also warned against rumors suggesting that leaders may be influenced or compromised, stating that such claims could lead to unnecessary division and embarrassment.

Highlighting concerns over political alignment, Young Kuki noted that decisions driven by personal interests rather than public welfare could harm the community in the long term. The group reiterated that leaders are expected to act in accordance with the will and aspirations of the people.

Additionally, the organization expressed strong reservations about participation in the proposed “Popular Government,” suggesting that such a move could undermine the community’s struggle and sacrifices. It called on leaders to carefully consider the historical and ongoing challenges faced by the Kuki-Zo people.

In conclusion, Young Kuki appealed to the public to remain patient, avoid spreading unverified information, and stand united while awaiting the collective decision of the leadership.
