In West Bengal, the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has expressed confidence that the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list will be completed by the February 14 deadline set by the Election Commission. In a weekly report submitted to the Commission, the CEO provided detailed updates on all incidents related to the SIR hearings.
Following a review of the report, the Election Commission called Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal to Delhi for urgent consultations, which were followed by an extensive meeting.
According to Commission sources, the discussions focused on ensuring the smooth execution of the SIR process and conducting free and fair elections. Key topics included security arrangements, booth infrastructure, and management protocols for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. Special monitoring of the ongoing SIR process will commence today under the direct supervision of CEO Manoj Kumar Agarwal.
