Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam and Mizoram next week, with a packed itinerary that includes key inaugurations and meetings aimed at bolstering regional development and security.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday chaired a preparatory meeting to review the arrangements for Shah’s visit. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed the discussions in a post on X, stating, “HCM Dr. @himantabiswa chaired a preparatory meeting for Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @AmitShah’s upcoming visit to Assam.”

Shah will arrive in Assam on March 14, and the following day, he will inaugurate the newly upgraded Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon, Jorhat district. The revamped police academy is expected to play a significant role in enhancing police training and law enforcement capabilities in the region.

After concluding his engagements in Assam, the Home Minister will travel to Mizoram on March 15 to attend a scheduled program. He will return to Assam later that evening and wrap up his visit with a crucial meeting in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on March 16.

However, Manipur is not on Shah’s radar again. The news of his visit comes amidst the renewed tense situation after he directed a free movement beginning from 8th March.
