Imphal, April 8: Michael Lamjathang, General Secretary of Thadou Inpi Manipur, has expressed serious concerns over the handling of the ongoing unrest in Manipur, criticising the state government’s response to the prolonged violence.
He stated that the government has been unable to effectively contain the situation over the past five months and lacks a clear and structured plan to restore peace and normalcy.
Lamjathang further alleged that the current approach appears lenient towards militant groups, which he claims continue to contribute to instability in the region. He called for decisive measures, including a stronger security response, to identify and bring to justice those responsible for acts of violence, particularly incidents involving the deaths of children.
He also raised questions regarding the role of the United Kuki National Army, seeking clarity on its position and activities in the present context.
