The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), a tribal body based in Kangpokpi strongly condemned the physical assault upon Kuki volunteers in Ukhrul district today.
The incident reported took place around 9 in the morning when Kuki volunteers went for their designated duty centers.
While passing Hundung and Singkap areas, the Tangkhul led militants took Kuki volunteers to their custody and physically assaulted them.
COTU expressed deep shock at the behavior of Tangkhuls on their neutrality in the war between Meiteis and Kukis.
It further warned Tangkhuls of Hundung and Singkap areas that they will be held responsible for any outcomes if they don’t book the culprits within 24 hours.
