Tamenglong, March 2: Tamenglong College organised the Yuva Connect Programme and the District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament for Tamenglong District on 2nd March 2026, drawing active participation from students, youth representatives, and distinguished guests from across the district, including the District Youth Officer (DYO).
The inaugural session began with the Yuva Connect Programme, moderated by Mrs. Chunlungliu Gangmei, Guest Lecturer, Department of Political Science, Tamenglong College. Delivering the welcome address, Mr. Namsurei Thomas Kamei, Assistant Professor, IQAC Coordinator, and Nodal Officer of YUVA Connect, extended a warm greeting to the gathering and underscored the significance of youth participation in shaping a progressive and responsible society.

The programme was graced by two prominent youth icons: Shri Daichui Gangmei, President of the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation, Manipur (RSOM), and Km. Guikhan Malingmei, a popular YouTuber known for her channel “Voice Unveiled.” In their addresses, both speakers encouraged young people to remain socially conscious, democratically aware, and actively engaged in constructive nation-building efforts. The session also featured an interactive exchange, allowing students and youth participants to engage directly with the speakers. The first session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Principal Tamenglong College.
The second session of the day marked the commencement of the District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, moderated by Mr. NG Tuakeulung, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the IGNOU Study Centre at Tamenglong College. The Youth Parliament competition centred on the theme, “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy,” and witnessed the participation of 18 students and youth representatives who presented thoughtful deliberations on the subject.
The proceedings were evaluated by a panel of jury members comprising Namsulung Gonmei, Chairman of Duigailong Village; Dr. Ninglu, Associate Professor, Tamenglong College; David Jiangamlung Kamei, Assistant Professor and Joint Coordinator, IQAC, Tamenglong College; Akinsin Gangmei, Social Worker; and Shining Panmei, President of the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur, Tamenglong Luangrian (RSOM-TL).

At the conclusion of the competition, Changkhaniu Ngaomei (B.Sc 4th Semester) secured the top position, followed by Jemima Phaomei (B.Sc 4th Semester), Poujianliu Kamei (BA 6th Semester), Damuiliu Gangmei (BA 2nd Semester), and Guangdikhuanliu (BA 4th Semester). Notably, all the awardees are students of Tamenglong College.
The successful conduct of both the Yuva Connect Programme and the Youth Parliament highlighted Tamenglong College’s continued commitment to empowering the youth of the district by fostering informed dialogue, democratic values, and leadership qualities among young minds.
