
The ten shortlisted youths with the principal and teaching-staff along with the jury members
Tamenglong, Manipur: With an aim to encourage the participation of the youths in decision-making and policy formulation, a district-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2025 was organized at the Multipurpose Hall of Tamenglong College on March 21, 2025 for youths who are in the age group of 18-25 years.
According to a press statement released by Ngamtinlun Touthang, IT Nodal Officer and Member of the Organising Committee, the event was graced by dignitaries including Dr. L. Angshim Dangshawa, IAS, DC Tamenglong, Shri N. Abonpou Christopher, MES, ZEO Tamenglong, and Dr. Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Principal of Tamenglong College, Special Guests and Functional President, respectively.

In his welcome speech, Dr. Kinthuijinang Maremmei, who is also the Chairman of the Organising Committee, encouraged the participants by highlighting the significance of “Viksit Bharat” or “Developed India,” a goal set by the Government of India to be achieved in 2047, the centenary year of India’s independence. He also wished all the participants the very best and urges them to strive for excellence in their future careers.

The Youth Parliament deliberated on the topic “One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat,” with participants mainly from Tamenglong district. Out of the 251 youths of Tamenglong and Jiribam districts registered on the MyBharat portal, a total of 150 candidates were selected but only about 40 turned up for the event.

After the deliberations, 10 youths were shortlisted to represent the district at the state-level VBYP later this month. They are:

- Pamei Genevieve Gaikanpou, BA 3rd Semester, Tamenglong College
- Jukthanlung Gonmei, BA 6th Semester, Tamenglong College
- Namgaying Newme, BA 6th Semester, Tamenglong College
- Jemima Phaomei, BSc 2nd Semester, Tamenglong College
- Eneikambe Panme, BSc 3rd Semester, Tamenglong College
- Gaitiplung Panmei, BA 6th Semester, Tamenglong College
- Gaisiamliu Kamei, BA 6th Semester, Tamenglong College
- Leomoliu Kamei, BA 2nd Semester, Tamenglong College
- Pouchamdinliu Newmai, BSc 3rd Semester, Tamenglong College
The top three candidates among the ten youths shortlisted for the state-level, namely Ms. Changkhanliu Ngaomei, Ms. Pamei Genevieve Gaikanpou, and Mr. Jukthanlung Gonmei, were declared the Best Youth Parliamentarian, Second Best Youth Parliamentarian, and Third Best Youth Parliamentarian, respectively, and were honoured with exciting gifts and cash.
The event was organized by the Organising Committee VBYP 2025 and NSS Unit, Tamenglong College, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The competition was assessed by a distinguished jury of five members, namely Shri D. Meidinbui, MCS, SDO, Tamenglong; Shri Daichui Gangmei, President, RNSOM; Shri Shinning Panmei, Chairman, RNSOM, Tamenglong Luangrian; Shri NG Tuakeulung, Asst. Professor & Head, Dept. of English, Tamenglong College; and Shri Daidatlung Kameih, Asst. Professor & Head, Dept. of Sociology, Tamenglong College.

The event was moderated by Smt. N. Rose Gonmei, Asst. Professor & Head, Dept. of Education; briefing of the participants, introduction and felicitation of the jury members by Shri Namsurei Thomas Kamei, IQAC Coordinator; Act of Gratitude by Shri Makhou Gangmei, NSS Program Officer; Distribution of Prizes by Shri Ngamtinlun Touthang, Member of the Organising Committee, and Vote of Thanks by Shri Dibam Gonmei, Vice-Principal.


The Organising Committee of VBYP 2025, Tamenglong, was led by Dr. Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Principal, Tamenglong College, as the Chairman; Shri N. The Screening Committee was comprised of Dr. Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Principal, Tamenglong College, as the Chairman, and Shri James Pamei, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Chemistry, Shri TP Ningdupou Edward, Guest Faculty, Dept. of English, and Shri Kapangai Pamei, Guest Faculty, Dept. of Environmental Sciences, as members.
