President Murmu Approves Gallantry and Service Awards for Armed Forces Personnel

President Droupadi Murmu has approved gallantry awards for 70 Armed Forces personnel, including six posthumous honours. Among the awardees, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been conferred the Ashoka Chakra, the country’s highest peacetime gallantry award.

Major Arshdeep Singh, Naib Subedar Doleshwar Subba Singh, and Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair have been awarded the Kirti Chakra. In addition, 13 Shaurya Chakras (including one posthumous), one Gallantry Bar to the Sena Medal, 44 Gallantry Sena Medals (including five posthumous), six Gallantry Nao Sena Medals, and two Gallantry Vayu Sena Medals have been approved.

The President has also sanctioned 301 military decorations for Armed Forces and other personnel. These include 30 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, four Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, 56 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, nine Yudh Seva Medals, two Distinguished Bars to the Sena Medal, 43 Distinguished Sena Medals, eight Distinguished Nao Sena Medals, 14 Distinguished Vayu Sena Medals, and 135 Vishisht Seva Medals.

Additionally, 98 Mentioned-in-Despatches have been approved, including five posthumous mentions. Of these, 81 are from the Indian Army—covering operations such as Rakshak, Snow Leopard, Hifazat, Orchid, Meghdoot, Rhino, Sindoor, rescue operations, casualty evacuation, Soffain, and miscellaneous operations. The honours also include 15 mentions for the Indian Navy and two posthumous mentions for personnel of the Border Roads Development Board.
