President Droupadi Murmu Launches Granth Kutir at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Granth Kutir at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which houses around 50 manuscripts and 2,300 books in 11 Indian classical languages. The collection spans subjects including epics, philosophy, history, governance, science, devotional literature, and the Constitution of India.

President Murmu highlighted the Kutir’s role in preserving classical languages, promoting cultural heritage, and fostering unity in diversity. She encouraged the study of classical languages in universities and greater availability of books to support their preservation.

The Granth Kutir aligns with the Gyan Bharatam Mission, a national initiative to digitise and disseminate India’s manuscript heritage, developed in collaboration with government bodies, universities, cultural organisations, and donors.
