Agartala: In a strong call for indigenous solidarity across the Northeast, TIPRA Motha Party founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma has extended his warm congratulations to Daniel Langthasa on the formation of the People’s Party in Dima Hasao, Assam.
In a letter issued from the party’s headquarters in Khumulwng the previous week, Pradyot described Langthasa’s initiative as a bold and inspiring step that reflects the aspirations of the indigenous people. He praised the young leader’s decision to carve out an independent political identity free from the influence of national party narratives. “It takes courage and conviction to build something that truly belongs to our people, speaks our language, and understands our pain,” the TIPRA Motha chief said.

Highlighting the long-standing ties between Dima Hasao and Tripura, Pradyot noted that both regions share deep cultural and historical bonds, as well as similar experiences of marginalization and neglect. He asserted that it was time for indigenous leaders across the Northeast to unite and form a common platform to address shared challenges such as illegal immigration, loss of land and identity, corruption, and underrepresentation in politics.
“The Northeast needs visionary and forward-thinking leaders who are rooted in integrity and committed to the people’s cause,” he stated, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to build a constructive and solutions-driven regional movement. “Our unity must not be for power, but for purpose,” Pradyot added.
Expressing his readiness to collaborate with the People’s Party and other regional forces, Pradyot envisioned a future where the Northeast could speak with one voice and lead with its own values and vision.
