PM Modi Greets Nation on 77th Republic Day, Reaffirms Resolve for ‘Viksit Bharat’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, calling on citizens to renew their commitment to building a ‘Viksit Bharat’. In a message on X, he said Republic Day symbolises India’s pride and should inspire fresh energy and determination to realise the vision of a developed nation.

Republic Day, observed annually on January 26, marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950 and the country’s transformation into a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.

The main celebrations are being held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the ceremonial parade. The event holds special diplomatic significance this year, with European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen attending as Chief Guests.

The 90-minute ceremony began with Prime Minister Modi paying tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial, followed by the parade featuring a 21-gun salute, military displays and 30 tableaux from states, Union Territories and central ministries. The tableaux reflect the themes of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, showcasing India’s cultural heritage, development journey and growing self-reliance.
