In a recent meeting of the Papum Pare District Tourism Promotion Council, officials highlighted the deteriorating condition of several government-owned tourism facilities and approved their leasing through an open tender process.
The discussion, held at the DC Conference Hall on January 29, focused on framing lease terms that reflect both the land value and existing tourist traffic. Officials expressed concern that long-neglected assets were failing to attract visitors or generate revenue.
Three properties have been earmarked for leasing via tender/NIT: the Adventure Tourism Camping Site at Jote Poma, the Mini Resort and Adventure Tourism Camping Site at Huto, and the Tourist Lodge (Holiday Inn) at Sagalee. Authorities emphasized that the initiative aims to revive idle infrastructure through a public–private partnership, preventing further decay.
Special attention was drawn to the Tourist Lodge at Sagalee, which has remained unused for years and become susceptible to anti-social activities. Reviving the lodge was described as a priority to restore its intended purpose and stimulate local tourism.
The council stressed the importance of carefully drafted lease agreements to avoid future disputes and attract only serious, capable bidders. Proper redevelopment of these facilities, members noted, could provide a significant boost to tourism in the district.
The meeting also reviewed the current status of the Sagalee lodge and endorsed moving forward swiftly with the tender process to safeguard public assets in Papum Pare and nearby areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
