On Kuki’s Kut Day, N Biren Singh greets Indigenous Community; draws flake and got heavily trolled

On the occasion of the Kut festival of the Kukis, chief minister of Manipur N Biren Singh greeted the indigenous people of Manipur.

Incidentally, Singh is the man Kukis blamed to be the mastermind behind Manipur violence. In his social media post he avoided mentioning ‘Kuki’, or any particular group.

“Greetings to all our indigenous communities celebrating Kut Festival today. May this occasion bring peace and harmony to our state.”

Kut is a post harvest festival of the Kuki ethnic group. The Manipur government declared 1st November as state holiday. Subsequently, the government of Assam also declared the same date as a restricted holiday.

The post which garnered over 3000 reactions has been shared over 900 times, with majority ‘laughing’ at the post. However, public comments were denied shortly.

Meiteis and Kukis alike trolled have him for his post. A social media user shared and comment: “Biren imagination of Manipur is limited to 700 sq miles”.

Another shared and commented: “Kukis are not a part of Manipur, stop wishing us we don’t need one “.
