Nongkseh Secures 11th CM’s International Gold Cup with 1–0 Victory in Meghalaya Final

Shillong-based Nongkseh Sports Social and Cultural Club emerged victorious at the 11th All India Chief Minister’s International Gold Cup Football Tournament, edging out BSF (Jalandhar) 1–0 in a tightly contested final at Jorethang, South Sikkim.

The match-winning moment arrived in the 51st minute when Kynsaibor Lhuid struck the decisive goal, securing the trophy for Nongkseh. The Shillong side dominated large portions of the game, controlling possession and tempo, while goalkeeper Daraphun Talang made a crucial save to deny BSF’s only shot on target.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma took to social media to congratulate the team, describing the triumph as a “शानदार victory” and lauding their “discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship” throughout the tournament. He added that the win was “well deserved” and encouraged the players to “keep up the great work.”

Kynsaibor was also named Man of the Tournament, receiving a Tata Tiago for his efforts. In addition, the champions earned ₹20 lakh in prize money along with the coveted trophy.

Nongkseh’s journey to the title was marked by consistency, remaining unbeaten as they overcame Himalayan Gangtok, Eastern Railway, NEROCA FC, and Red Panda FC. Their stellar performance has attracted attention from Indian Super League side NorthEast United FC, who have invited Nongkseh for a pre-season friendly on February 8 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.

The victory marks another milestone for the Meghalaya club, highlighting its rising prominence on the national football stage.
