In a major boost to tourism infrastructure and community development in India’s remote border areas, several key tourist facilities were inaugurated in Dibang Valley near the Indo-China border during the Pre-Reh Festival celebrations at Angrim Valley.
The inauguration was led by Anini MLA and Advisor to the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Geology & Mining, Mope Mihu, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Bekir Nyorak, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sadhu Mihu, and senior district officials. The newly opened facilities include a Tourist Centre, a Tourist Lodge, and a Community Hall, aimed at improving visitor amenities while supporting local socio-economic development.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA emphasized the role of sustainable tourism in driving economic empowerment in frontier districts. He said the new infrastructure would help attract more visitors to the scenic Dibang Valley, create livelihood opportunities for local residents, and contribute to the preservation of indigenous cultural heritage.
The inauguration coincided with the Pre-Reh Festival, a significant cultural event of the Idu Mishmi community. The festival showcased traditional rituals, music, and customs, highlighting the community’s rich cultural legacy and unity, and adding cultural significance to the development initiative.
Officials stated that the new facilities are expected to play a vital role in promoting Dibang Valley as a responsible tourism destination while encouraging greater community participation in development efforts. The project reflects the government’s commitment to balanced growth, cultural preservation, and strategic development in India’s border regions.
