CM Neiphiu Rio Highlights NDPP’s Role in Protecting Naga Culture and Advancing Development On February 27, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio emphasized the significant responsibility of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), currently in power in Nagaland, to safeguard the state’s rich history, culture, and traditions while simultaneously promoting the development of its citizens.
Speaking at the 5th General Convention of the NDPP, Rio stressed the importance of cooperation, accountability, and preserving Naga identity for achieving political and economic progress.
“The NDPP, as a regional party, carries a great responsibility to protect the history, culture, traditions, customary laws, and identity of the Naga people,” Rio stated. He highlighted the need for focused efforts to address Naga political issues for the overall development of the region.
Rio also underscored the significance of preserving Naga customs, including motifs and food traditions, to highlight the distinctiveness of the Naga people. He further pointed out that positions like ‘Dobashis’ and ‘Gaon Buras’ (GBs) are not just administrative roles, but custodians of Naga customary laws and practices.
The Chief Minister urged Naga groups to unite in their efforts to find a long-term solution to the ongoing political challenges, stressing that internal discord weakens collective efforts to achieve the common goal of progress and stability.
