N Biren Singh Snubbed by Shah Once Again for Union Home Ministry Crucial Talks

In a highly anticipated talk between various leaders of Kuki, Naga and Meitei groups which is set on 15 October, the name of the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh doesn’t feature nor he received any intimation from the Union Home Ministry. This is the third time Singh is left aside from participating in crucial talks.

The talk is being hosted by the Union Home Ministry under the direction of Amit Shah. This comes at the time Naga leaders raised its concerns over district boundaries to the Centre. Similarly, Kukis have been demanding total separation from Manipur government since last year after the violence broke out on May 3.

There are speculation that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah might be planning “something big” in bringing a lasting solution for Manipur. According to sources, Singh always remains “non-committal” to solutions which the home ministry envisages.

Other reason could be Kuki group stiff opposition to Singh’s participation in whatsoever talks being initiated. A Kuki leader once told media that Biren should remain as Meitei Chief Minister and should never broker peace to conflict which he initiated.
